General Documents Required for a Schengen Visa
Before submitting your Schengen visa application from the UK, make sure you have the following documents ready:
Completed Schengen Visa Application Form – Filled in accurately and signed where required.
Valid Passport – Your passport should have at least 2 blank pages and remain valid for at least 3 months after your intended departure from the Schengen Area.
UK Residence Permit or eVisa – Proof of your legal residence in the UK.
Recent Passport-Size Photographs – Recent photographs that meet Schengen visa photo requirements.
Proof of Accommodation – Hotel booking, accommodation reservation, or an invitation from your host.
Travel Medical Insurance – Valid Schengen travel insurance with minimum coverage of €30,000.
Proof of Travel – Flight or train reservations, including evidence of your return journey where applicable.
Travel Itinerary & Cover Letter – Details of your planned trip, including the purpose and duration of your stay.
Proof of Financial Means – Bank statements, payslips, or other evidence showing you can support yourself during your stay.
Specific Documents Based on Your Purpose of Travel
Additional documents may be required depending on your employment status and reason for travelling:
Employed:
Employer letter, recent bank statements, payslips and approved leave letter.
Self-Employed:
Business registration documents, company bank statements, personal bank statements and an invitation letter for business trips, where applicable.
Student:
University or college enrolment letter, valid student ID and relevant course or attendance documents.
Medical Treatment:
Hospital or doctor appointment confirmation, medical reports, treatment details and proof of payment or financial arrangements.
Business, Official Visits or Events:
Invitation letter, proof of the business/event purpose, employer or company documents and evidence of sufficient funds.
For Minors:
Birth certificate, parental consent where required, parents’ financial documents and copies of the parents’ passports or residence documents.
